WARNING! WARNING! CHALLENGER APPROACHING! ORIGINAL CHARACTER APPROACHING! WARNING! WARNING!

When I glimpsed Ultraman for the very first time, there was one thing that struck me about his characteristics and his methodology. His emotionless eyes and brutal form of dispatching his sometimes undeserving enemies had an odd effect on me. I hated it in a way, in another way it intrigued me. Not in the traditional sense as normal interest, but more in a “could I do that in his situation”?

Probably no.

What I have created here is my own attempt at an Ultraman style hero, and my first real ORIGINAL giant monster for Deviantart. His design is based on some fundamental aspects of Ultraman himself.

His empty eye sockets give the same effect as Ultraman’s glowing emotionless eyes. His sealed jaws resemble the mouth decorating Ultraman’s face. His utter lack of flashy appendages and simplicity, all rules I sat down for myself when I began sketching up this creature.

Skull Lizard, as he will be called now, until the poll I put up decides his official name, is in many ways a reference to many retro things.

He is meant to embody the golden era of anime (Late seventies to mid-nineties) and protest the loss of great and perfectly paced storytelling that is lost in modern anime.

His tactics of sheer brutality and slight campy look is a throw to a time when movies in general weren’t bound by science or reality.

His lack of any beam or projectile represents the sheer animal yet artistic combat of the Showa era.

His simplistic and uncomplicated design is meant to battle the demons in my head that scratched at my skull forcing me to try and create something “out there and original”.

This creature and his origins are an all out protest to many things and a glorification of a few.

*Bio*

Height: It is believed that his height is dependant on his foes. The manipulation of the feldstrum (Fourth dimension) can only compensate for another living objects size. Coupled with his honor, he can never grow larger than his enemy, he can only modestly match their height, though he is usually somewhat smaller in proportion. He has never been seen reaching heights over fifty meters tall.

Appearance: Covered in what appears to be a bone-like carapace that mimics dinosaur fossils. Bone gray armor positioned amongst his charcoal gray and purple muscles. From the base of his back below his shoulder blades juts a long, skeletal segmented tail. From his skull several dread-lock-like appendages dangle, each one articulated. His hands and feet are clawed and are his main form of weaponry.

This is all a sharp contrast to his human counterpart, a young Native American man who’s sleeping mind has since awoken.

Origins: His exact origins are shrouded in mystery, as his alter ego isn’t exactly sure himself where he came from. Though, the energy required to create him and manipulate this plain of reality to allow such a monstrosity to exist was enormous. In his creation, all the worlds fossil fuel resources simply disappeared, throwing the planet into a ignorant panic.

His very appearance, along with his foes, forced the greed of humanity to shift. Politicians went mad with fear of this new world altered by cataclysmic events.

On the brink of invasion from an outside force, harvesting our DNA, comes the enemy. With a painful transformation into this beast, he battles them, not for society, or for culture in general, but for the species as a whole.

Very sorry to leave you all in the dark, but I find a bit of mystery very appealing and adds a strong since of aura to the monster. So if this makes no sense to you, even better!

~(I’ll be accepting almost any art-trade that has to do with this beasty, I would love to see other peoples design of him, battling their original creations, or what have you…;)~
