Mega Feraligatr by AkagiGryphon Mega Feraligatr by AkagiGryphon
Because I can. I hope he gets a mega evolution. My drawing is not a forum for haters to come and complain about how the mega evolution thing sucks, I like it. Regardless, I will say, no one ever needs to accuse Digimon of copying pokemon ever again, right now its the other way around. (Dude, they only evolve in battle, its temporary, and when they evolve they 'enter bubble/egg' shape, just like Digimon. But regardless, as I say, my drawing is not a forum for hate, so please, go take it somewhere else. )

I personally hope all starters final forms get Mega-Evolutions.

But with the pokémon and digimon thing, I stand by my opinion that neither copied the other, the concept of battling, evolving monsters is really not that unique a concept in the first place, also originally Digimon did not revert back to lower levels unless they died/reverted to a digiegg.

The only reason I bring it up is the religiously zealous haters that like to make that claim.

Despite the fact that Digimon and Pokemon are about as similar as Batman and Ultraman. Suffix doesn't mean anything, Digimon were originally referred to as Digital demons all throughout development.

At least we're in agreement on the "Pokémon and Digimon are different" department, I hate it when people say one is a copy of the other when anyone who is a fan of both series can tell you that they are completely different.

I didn't know about Digimon originally being known as "Digital Demons" thanks for that bit of trivia.

Digimon's origins technically lie in Korea, its a long story but what it boils down to is Digimon being an attempt to really drive sales of 'combat v-pets' as there were other combat v-pets but they did terribly.

Huh, did not know there were other kinds of fighting V-pets, I know what Digimon started as though.

I will say this, though Digimon and Pokémon are different, the Hunters part of season six does have a rather Pokémon-ish feel...and I love Pokémon and all, but for Digimon, that's not really a good thing, of course opinions will differ.

I'd have to disagree, I felt like Xros Wars really captured something I wanted to see in Digimon in a while. Very few human characters and a lot of digimon. More than one per human made for nice interactions. You had digimon-digimon romances, they were actual characters (to the point in which the personal dramas of the humans were second rate to the very real dramas the digimon experienced. If the show is title Digimon, it should be about the digimon)

But I have a lot of complaints with xros wars, but for everything it did wrong or stupid, be it designs and such, it made up for it with animation budget and the fact that it was a really fresh take. I really liked seeing Digimon take the center stage and the human drama be toned down. Beelzebumon and Minvervamon's relationship was absolutely brilliant and something that shows a certain level of commitment to the concept of Digimon being something other than just weapons.

I'm one of those dirty people who REALLY hated Tamers. I don't find it 'dark or deep' I find it slow, poorly paced, and really melodramatic. It had all the same messages the previous seasons had (and following seasons) with a lot of boring melodrama over emphasized on it. There is nothing wrong with having a dark story, its just I like my dark story to have something happen. I found it hilarious how people go on about how dark and deep it was and almost no humans die in the course of the series.

And Pokemon isn't all bad as an anime, chronicles was pretty good, its just the problem with Pokemon is; admittedly by the creators, its toned down to appeal to American audiences. Made simple and silly like an American cartoon, where as Digimon does no such strains to insult its viewer base.

It is pretty much well accepted in Japan that Digimon as an anime is a far superior franchise to pokemon, but as games, Pokemon wins.

Its one of those things that further exploits the dramatic difference in the two.

I think you have completely misunderstood what I meant.

I liked Xros wars, I was talking about Hunters, I liked seeing Digimon as characters and everything like that.

I was referring to Hunters 'catching Digimon' aspect, which felt kind of wrong to me.

Also, I NEVER said Pokémon was a bad anime, in fact I said I loved Pokémon, and if you thought I just meant the games, no, I mean the anime too.

Tamers is my favorite season of digimon, but we can all have our own opinions.

That would be badass! That also explains the Mewtwo form that everybody keeps talking about. From what I'm seeing from the new Fairy type to Mega Evolution, I'm thinking it might be a big step forward to the franchise.
