Egg, Baby, and Zooky

Egg: Fairly self explanatory. Shell composed of protein fibers (Not to dissimilar from spider silk, only much longer and self-forming) like an insect egg sack, but is quite solid under a thick layer of of calcium. The overall structure of the egg is nearly indestructible by any physical means. The eggs can lay dormant for thousands and even millions of years. The 'embryo' inside seems to feed and grow off a form of a 'reactor' which breaks all rules of basic thermodynamics. The end result is that the egg gives off a faint glow that gets dimmer as it grows closer to hatching. The egg itself releases a type of spore out of pin-head sized holes that mark its shell; the spores then attach themselves to nearby plant life. This spores promote the growth of a very rare sound-sensitive 'moss' that encases the lower portion of the egg. The purpose of this symbiotic relationship is unknown, and only speculated that the moss feeds off the inner reactor as the egg matures.

Baby: When it emerges from the egg; the hatchlings dubbed ‘baby’ are instantly self-aware and self-preserving. They are highly accomplished problem solvers due to their immense brains and intellect. They stand roughly between eight and ten feet tall. They will begin rapidly growing, though they need food. All reported instances of the baby stage feeding have turned up that it starts life as a vegetarian; feeding on any nutrient rich vegetation. They rapidly grow, literally reaching the Zooky stage in just weeks. During this time they have to consume nearly their own body weight in food.

Zooky: The stage first coined by an environmentalist group, this rarely seen stage takes place directly after the baby stage. Probably the most remarkable of all the younger stages, the transformation it undergoes is uncanny. Developing large bone protrusions from its fore-limbs, the softer feathers decorating the baby stage have grown into powerful, light weight, razor sharp feathers. These feathers protrude from the bone growth on the forelimbs. This allows the creature limited flight capabilities. Considered the most fragile of all the stages, this form is quick to escape and will even hide in large bodies of water. At this stage the creature begins feeding on fish as its sole source of sustenance. This level of development can range between 20-30 feet tall.
Though easily intimidated at this stage, it does exhibit keen defense and offensive abilities. Ranging from powerful claws and problem solving, to clouds of noxious fumes released from its throat to blind and disorient its attackers.
It is unknown just how long the creature stays in this ‘awkward’ phase, as they are rarely seen or photographed, let alone documented.
